WhatsApp and Instagram in One Person-Based Inbox
A conversation can begin in an Instagram direct message and continue on WhatsApp. Linkrium can place supported history beside the same contact without pretending the two providers work identically.

One contact, visible sources#
Linkrium associates the available WhatsApp phone number and Instagram identity with a contact after those identifiers have been reviewed. Supported messages can then appear chronologically while each item retains its source label.
This is not a migration from one provider to another. WhatsApp continues to deliver WhatsApp messages and Instagram continues to deliver Instagram messages. Provider authentication, history and outbound rules remain separate.
Setup and verification#
- Review the current WhatsApp and Instagram rows on the supported networks page.
- Connect only accounts you control through the documented flow.
- Use a synthetic contact and send one distinctive test phrase on each network.
- Confirm the identifiers belong to the same person before associating them.
- Check source labels, timestamps, surrounding history and reply controls.
- Reply through each available route and verify delivery in the native provider.
Capability matrix#
| Capability | Expected Linkrium behavior | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Combined history | Supported messages appear on one contact timeline | Only synchronized history is visible |
| Source context | Every message retains a provider label | Native interfaces still contain provider-only features |
| Identity matching | Known identifiers can be attached to one contact | Uncertain matches require human review |
| Reply | Composer uses an available connected route | Media and delivery behavior vary |
| Follow-up | A message can become a task or reminder when enabled | User must review the resulting action |
Connection and privacy limits#
Instagram and WhatsApp may use different connection mechanisms. Account eligibility, session expiry, backfill, groups, disappearing content, calls, templates, reactions and attachment support can differ. A provider change can pause synchronization until the account is reauthorized.
Review how Linkrium handles connected message data and disconnect any account you no longer use. Do not paste credentials or session material into a service other than the flow Linkrium documents.
When this pair is useful#
The combined view is useful when the same clients, prospects or collaborators regularly change between the two networks. If nearly every conversation stays in one app, native search and organization may be simpler. Add aggregation only when it removes a real retrieval or follow-up failure.
